Eggshells

Small scared crouching in the corner careful not to wake the bear
the smell of smoke always in her nostrils
perfume like standing water in her hair
then a flying hand bright crackles the hole forever in her door
words pierce into her skin and break her soft statue to the core

we are the lonely we are the broken ones
we are the lonely and feet that fear the ground will never run
I took the time to bleed please promise not to tell I was walking on eggshells

self stained singing hallelujah softly not to make a breath
self medicated singing her praises
is tonight the night he’s gonna love her to death
flesh flying hand bright crackles a hole forever in the sky
still wet talking to the empty purple skin remembers why

we are the lonely we are the broken ones
we are the lonely and feet that fear the ground will never run
I took the time to bleed please promise not to tell I was walking on eggshells
I was walking on eggshells

I breathe and the moon shines carelessly
shining light so beautiful for me
I wake in the tall grass in bloom
and then I wake and I’m still in my room

we are the lonely we are the broken ones
we are the lonely and feet that fear the ground will never run
I took the time to bleed please promise not to tell I was walking on eggshells
I was walking on eggshells
